more about the "15"
Imagine yourself as a marathon runner, waking one morning in familiar surroundings, only to discover that your legs are numb, as if not even there. Being a athlete you have a great intellectual and mechanical insight on how your legs are suppose to move, but what do you do? without the sensation of your lower limbs. You may be inclined to lay still, or wait for help, perhaps even scream . But what if you attempt to override your lack of sense with your mind and do what your body knows to do, What will be the results? This scenario happens countless times in the life of a Artist whether Actor or writer, Dancer or Poet. The pen runs dry, the writer is blocked, the poet fails to rhyme and the dancer has two left feet. For me it begins as a blank piece of white paper, and ends a blank piece of white paper. The images in the “fifteen” collection are images that have derived from a experiment to combat inspirational void. The Task: overcome artist block The Medium: digital, The process: Produce 15 works from 15 images that derive from 15 minutes of research and spend 15 minutes creating each work translating a broad range of varied meanings in a short time by extracting purpose from random images. The result: the “fifteen” collection - each image had begun from a image search of the first 15 letters of the alphabet and had been created in 15 minutes. - Can a logical method result in a creative statement? you decide.
